A student of Erika Waardenburg, Nick Scholten finished both his bachelor of music in performance and education and his master of music in soloist studies with very high marks. His final recital programme consisted only out of contemporary works for the harp written during the past 60 years.
In 2011 he was the winner of an audition earning him a replacement position with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam. He also played several works as a soloist with orchestras in the Netherlands: Danses by Debussy and the Concerto for harp by J.C. Bach. He performs regularly in recitals, with orchestras, and chamber music ensembles in the Netherlands. He was also a participant and prize winner in several national and international harp competitions. Nick is also a composer and writes for many genres including for the harp.
As a harp teacher he has a variety of experience working with both children and adults studying both the Celtic and concert harps. Durings his studies he also received high marks for the teaching and methodology classes and for his educational report. He is teaching several students privately.
Nick is currently living in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
